BDO

The Scare are on Big Day Out 2010.

THE SCARE and BIG DAY OUT are of a like mind: party hard, but tour even harder. The livewire Queensland rockers – who’ve also put in the hard yards sleeping on couches and supporting big-name acts back in the mother country – made the nation stand up (or should that be take-a-step-back?) and listen with their second album Oozevoodoo. A visceral, cathartic blast of gritty, sleazy, groove-filled rock, it’s “edgy, clever, succinct and all above all else fun” (FasterLouder). Blessed with a frontman, Kiss Reid, who oozes as much sex appeal as he does voodoo, THE SCARE may well rock your pants off at BIG DAY OUT 2010. (EAST COAST)

We are fucking excited,

We have HOMEBAKE, FALLS AND BDO over summer in Australia.

I will post a new blog tonight about the tour and pool comp we are currently on,
it has been fucking fun.

Hello People

We have been up to quite a lot over the last few weeks, here it is:

Oozevoodoo's australian release date has been pushed back to September 2 , i believe you will be able to pre-order mid august. I will write about it when i know.

We have a new video for our new single "Could Be Bad". This was filmed in Surry Hills in Sydney in a warehouse building and we are really happy with the way it has turned out. Check back to this space on wednesday to see it!

We have nearly put our australian album tour together and it is going to be amazing,
Again check back here about it.

We have asked a few friends to cover/re-mix their own version of "No Money", this includes sydney lush BRIDEZILLA and our english friend LIGHTSPEED CHAMPION. Hopefully we will have them online in the next few weeks!

We played with JET at LUNA PARK yesterday for Channel V, it was a nice day and thankyou to anyone that came down and Channel V for having us!

Here is a photo of the scare's biggest clown (kiss) with some of LUNA PARKS biggest clowns:

New shirts available at shows for $20

Western Australia! The final leg of our tour with Wolf and Cub

QLD

Last week we drove 1200Kms to revist our roots and offer our new sound to some old friends.

On the way up we did our first ever show in Woolgoolgah and Brock did his best ever rendition of Tommy Cub's stage movements.

The next day we drove to the Gold Coast and had the most serene piss stop of the tour just north of Byron Bay

Currumbin RSL was a blast

As was The Zoo in Fortitude Valley. Thanks to Kristian F Hawker for providing a killer after party at his humble abode!

On the Saturday we finally made it home to our beloved Sunshine Coast. I was too busy catching up with Family and Friends to take any photos but it was certainly a great night had by all at The Woombye Pub! Outstanding venue.

Byron Bay on the sunday was fantastic and Voodoo was definitely in the air (and the gardens)

The Great Northern was very hospitable but their signage perplexed me

Homeward Bound.

WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO

'Could Be Bad' Single

Hello Again

We have uploaded a new track 'Could Be Bad' on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/thescare).

This song is the opening song on "oozevoodoo" and will be the second single off this record.

Collectively, it is one of our favourite songs off the record and was written at our permenant rehearsal space in the arse end of Surry Hills. This rehearsal space was also occupied by INXS in the eighties and Billy Thorpe up until he passed a few years ago.

This song also features long time collaborator Holiday Sidewinder from Bridezilla on back-up vocals.

We recorded this song in 3 takes in early december at Mangrove Studios and the only over-dubs are percussion and vocals.

This song was also the corner stone for the strong percussive element of the album.

We are doing the video for "Could Be Bad" with our good friend Tom Noakes, it will be done in Sydney and watch this space for it in the next few weeks. The treatment looks great and involves guerilla projection.

To leave you all,
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has come out to the shows on the wolf + cub tour,
it has been a blast and we are really looking forward to going to perth this week!

Here is a photo from the Canberra Show that our good friend Stella Rae took.

Thanks and check back soon.

'OOZEVOODOO' ALBUM COVER

This is new album cover for our 2nd record 'oozevoodoo', the album cover was designed by our good friend Jack Ladder.

'oozevoodoo' will be out in stores in Australia on August 8th.

The record was produced by Daniel Johns over the Australian summer.

It is 10 songs and goes for 30 minutes.

THE SCARE BLOG

Hello.

Samuel here.

Welcome to our new blog!

We are in the middle of the biggest Australian tour we have ever done with our psych budddies Wolf n Cub, it lasts over 5 weeks and we are nearly half way through.

On this tour we are selling CD's for $2, these limited edition items are the equilviant to a kind of "No Money" single and feature two demos that were recorded in the later stages of writing oozevoodoo. We also have Scare shirts, there should be a link in the next week to buy them online.

The photos under this post are taken on the victorian leg, highlights involved getting bogged by brock early on, having a crash in lovely W BOWL, a patron getting glassed in geelong, kids rushing the stage in melbourne, Stevy/Fur-Carrrse our tour manager/sound guy drinking 20 VB tinnies, Leeham and I spending 4 hours in The Brunswick Club having a punt with the locals and Kiss walking off after 2 songs in the W BOWL after a 15 hour drive to get there.

The shows have been fucking great though and the opening band Pets with Pets were refreshing, kinda like Suicide meets CAN meets a couple of Collingwood kids on special K. They have a 7" out so try and grab one.

In other Scare news, we have a new single out in early july to radio in Australia, it is called "Could Be Bad", We will also have a video done by our friend Mr Tom Noakes that we are shooting this week.

We have just finalized the "oozevoodoo" cover art which has been constructed by Mr JACK Ladder, i will upload it on here later in the week.

Our video is up on NME.COM for NO MONEY, so head over and watch it!

We are also looking for a band to take on the road for our Australian record tour, so if anyone has any suggestions please let us know!

We leave for Coffs Harbour tomorrow in our disgusting big ugly van,

See you on the other side

Samuel and The Scare

On The Road Again...
